River Valley High School
Platteville High School
The Hillmen were victorious Friday/Saturday night against visiting River Valley. The conditions on the field were wet and the wind was blowing but that didn’t stop Platteville from getting out to a 21-0 Lead in the second quarter. Both teams exchanged punts early trying to find some rhythm offensively, and finally Platteville did. Ethan Bernhardt led the team all the way down to the 3 yard line where he found fellow senior Zach White in the flats for an easy touchdown catch. Ethan then connected with Austin Wein (11 yards), and Donovan Blevins (20 yards), for his next two touchdown passes. River Valley struggled to move the ball all night and went into half trailing 21-0.
In the second half, the storm had calmed and both teams traded back an forth again. Towards the end of the third, the weather came back and forced the teams to delay the game until Saturday night. Platteville finished off Valley by scoring another touchdown in the 3rd quarter, and one more in the 4th quarter to cap it off. The Hillmen play this Friday against Lancaster for the conference championship.
Note: The Hillmen are now playoff eligible with the win over River Valley.
